Michigan State offensive lineman Benny McGowan found himself at the center of the Spartans game winning drive over Iowa.

For Benny McGowan the past season has been one of great growth as he played a key role when others missed games due to injuries. Against Iowa, McGowan was at the center of the Spartans memorable game winning drive against Iowa to win the Big Ten Championship and punch the Spartans ticket to the College Football Playoffs.

Saturday’s win over Iowa in the Big Ten Championship Game will be one offensive lineman Benny McGowan will not soon forget.  As a key backup this season as the Spartans fought injuries along the offensive line, McGowan got several chances to earn starts.  However, with everyone back for the Iowa game, McGowan knew his role and waited until called upon.

That call just happened to have come during the Spartans impressive 22-play final drive that ended when L.J. Scott forced his way into the endzone to give the Spartans the points needed to win the Big Ten Championship and punch their College Football Playoff tickets.
