One of the top tight ends in the Midwest talks about his visit to Michigan State and if he'll look to return for another visit.

One of the top prospects on Michigan State’s radar in the 2017 class is Cincinnati Moeller tight end Matt Dotson. While already holding an offer, Dotson hadn’t see the Spartans up close until he visited for the Penn State game a couple of weeks ago. Spartan Digest gets the latest on Dotson’s visits with the Spartans.

After missing the early half of his junior year with an injury, Cincinnati Moeller standout tight end Matt Dotson played catch-up the rest of the year.  However, that didn’t stop colleges including the Michigan State Spartans from offering the talented tight end.

“We just started back lifting so I’m in full enjoyment of that,” said Dotson.  “I love working out and happy to be back with the team lifting and getting better for next season.

After getting his offer from the Spartans, Dotson looked for a possible time to visit and found it on the final regular season game against Penn State.

“I went up for the Penn State game and it was cold, real cold,” he said.  “Great fans as we sat next to a really nice guy and he talked with me for a little bit.  He was alumni so we talked for a little bit.

“The game was great as the offense was moving and the defense was doing great too.  So it was definitely a good game to go and see what Michigan State is all about.”

Being a game day, Dotson may not have seen all he’d like to have seen from the Spartans.

“I didn’t see much of their facilities but I saw the locker room after the game,” said.  “So I’m planning on going back up probably for a Junior Day to see more of the facilities.”

Can the Spartans pull another tight end out of Cincinnati in the 2017 class?  Spartan Digest will be keeping an eye on Dotson going forward.
