Another receiver/defensive back on the way

MSU got its ninth verbal of the recruiting season when another top 20 prospect from the Cleveland area said he is coming to East Lansing.

Michael Bell, a 6-foot, 175-pound wide receiver out of Shaker Heights, Ohio, will join the Spartans in 2004. Bell told The Cleveland Plain Dealer that he really liked the new coaching staff the Spartans had put in a place.

Bell, who hauled in 31 passes for 430 yards and six touchdowns as a junior, said he was also swayed by seeing quarterback Brian Hoyer, another recent MSU addition, perform at the Nike Camp.

The wide receiver/defensive back also had scholarship offers from Wisconsin and Nebraska. Bell is fourth wide receiver that has verbally committed to the Spartans, joining Richard Abney, Deon Curry and Carl Grimes. All four may also lineup as defensive backs.

Bell is said to be an athletic receiver, who possesses great hands.
