Valentine only answered two questions following the Spartans loss to Middle Tennessee in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Q. Denzel, what's the emotion right now, what's running through your head?
DENZEL VALENTINE: I've got a lot of emotions running through my head right now. I mean, I'm more mad and disappointed because I know what this team could accomplish. Matt had a heck of a game. Bryn, bounced back in the second half. I'm just really disappointed right now. That's probably one of the worst games we played all year, and it happened to be in the first round. You can't have that if you want to win championships. And in high school, winning two state championships, we didn't, me and Bryn, we didn't do that in the games that mattered. And today it kind of fell apart. And just sucks right now because I know the capability our team had.
Q. Denzel, there was a moment when you went into the huddle you slammed the floor out of frustration. At what point in the game did you start to worry, or was there an uh-ho moment for you?
DENZEL VALENTINE: I mean, that was a really frustrating game because they were switching up the defenses. And probably like -- it was probably the only team all year that went from 1-3-1 to 2-3 to man. And I was frustrated. But I mean as a basketball player you're going to have to deal with that, got to learn how to deal with that. With great power comes great responsibility. And I didn't handle it today. Just sucks that we're going home now. But I got something that I'll never forget for the rest of my life; that when you're in this position and everybody's looking at you, you've got to come through. I didn't come through today and I'll remember that for the rest of my life.
