Last season was a breakout year for Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne sophomore defensive end Alex Reigelsperger as he helped the Warriors reach their second consecutive state championship game by posting 60 total tackles with 9.5 sacks.
Because of his early success, Reigelsperger has already added four scholarship offers.
I’ve been offers by Miami Ohio, Purdue, Kentucky and Western Michigan,” said Reigelsperger.
One school keeping close tabs on the 6-foot-4, 235-pound defensive end is the Michigan State Spartans.
“I’m going up to Michigan State on April 21st and then I’ll also be at their spring game on April 23rd,” he said. “I’ve been talking with Coach (Harlon) Barnett and he said they would like me to come up and look at their facilities.
“He said if they don’t offer when I come up, they will later on in my junior year. He said to be patient and just keep working hard.”
Current Spartans quarterback Messiah deWeaver has already put a bug in Reigelsperger’s ear.
“Messiah says he really likes it up there,” he said. “He told me to make sure I take some time to have a visit up there as he said I would really like it if I come up.”
What is it about the Spartans that has his interest high?
“Michigan State is a great school and has a winning season every year,” he said. “They are always good and competitive. So it would be a big offer for me.”
