Cincinnati Colerain safety Keontae Jones is hearing more from the Michigan State Spartans as their interest continues to rise.

Michigan State has their eyes already set on a couple of top players in the secondary for the Class of 2017. However, recently another defender has caught their attention and he’s looking to learn more about the Spartans.

The pursuit of Ohio four-star corner Amir Riep has been going strong for a few months now by the Michigan State Spartans.  But another Cincinnati Colerain defender is also getting some attention from the Spartans as safety Keontae Jones is hearing more from East Lansing.

“I’ve been talking with Michigan State lately,” said Jones.  “I’ve talked with Coach (Harlon) Barnett on the phone and also spoke with head coach Mark Dantonio as well.”

What have the Spartans been saying during their talks?

“Coach Barnett said that he really needs to get me up there to check out their campus,” he said.  “Coach Dantonio just wanted to touch base with me so he could have a chance to speak with me.”

What would a Michigan State offer mean for the 6-foot, 173-pound safety?

“A Michigan State offer would make them a school I would have in high consideration to the offers I already hold,” he said.  “But I would want to build a strong relationship with them.”

It also sounds like Riep is starting to put a little bit of a bug in his ear about the Spartans.

“Amir has talked about them for awhile and it would be big to get that offer,” he said.  “I know they love to play defense and are a very good team.  If Amir would go there and they would offer, I would really consider going there with Amir.”

Spartan Digest will continue to follow Jones and see if the Spartans are able to get him on campus this month.
