Recruiting has been steady for Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne 2018 defensive end Alex Reigelsperger with offers from programs in the SEC, Big Ten and Mid-American Conference to date.
One offer the 6-foot-4, 237-pound defensive end is looking to add to his list is from the Michigan State Spartans.
“I’ve been talking with Coach (Harlon) Barnett and he said that he’s been going over my HUDL film and everything about me with Coach (Mark) Dantonio,” said Reigelsperger. “He said he would let me know Saturday as soon as I walk in the door if they are going to offer me now or not.”
While Reigelsperger knows not to get his hopes too high at this point, the Spartans have also stressed the process is still in the early process for 2018 prospects.
“Coach Barnett also said not to get discouraged if they don’t offer as they’ve only offered a few in the 2018 class,” he said. “He said that they are normally pretty slow in recruiting.”
This will be the first trip to East Lansing but Reigelsperger has already heard plenty about MSU.
“This is my first trip and the weather is supposed to be nice,” he said. “I’ve been talking with Messiah (deWeaver) and he’s telling me I’m going to love it up there. I heard it’s going to be a big day with a lot of kids coming up.”
What would it mean if the Spartans extend an offer early?
“I don’t even think words would describe it,” he said. “I know it would help me in recruiting, but it would also help motivate me even more to work even harder. It would mean so much to have an offer from Michigan State. Especially how big they are, how they always have a winning record and how big of a deal they are.”
