Ohio offensive lineman Matt Sichterman heads to Michigan State for the Spartans Green-White gave with a purpose.

Ohio offensive lineman Matt Sichterman heads to Michigan State this weekend having discussed the true interest the Spartans have in him as a prospect.

Spartan Digest caught up with Kings Mills High School offensive lineman Matt Sichterman on Friday for more information on his weekend visit with the Michigan State Spartans.

“I spoke with Coach Barnett and he told me to come up,” said Sichterman.  “I asked how interested they were with me and he got me on the phone with Coach (Mark) Staten and Coach (Mark) Dantonio.  They said they want to get to know me better and they are going to come watch me workout on Tuesday.  So we’ll go from there when it comes to offers and see what happens.”

This visit with the Spartans could prove to be an important one as the 6-foot-5, 265-pound Sichterman is looking to start narrowing down his options.

“I’m finishing up taking my unofficial visits,” he said.  “I’ll be at Michigan State this weekend and then Northwestern and Nebraska soon.  I’m getting close to narrowing it down, but want to finish these visits first.”

What would an offer from the Spartans mean at this stage of the process?

“A Michigan State offer would be huge for me,” he continued.  “They were a very successful team last year and many of their coaches were down at Cincinnati right when we moved here.  I think it would be cool to play for a big school like Michigan State as they have a good engineering program and that is what I’m looking to do.  They are a big-time Big Ten program and an offer from them would definitely be up there.”

Spartan Digest will continue to stay in contact with Sichterman as he learns more about the interest the Spartans have in offering him a scholarship.
