We continue our countdown of the 52 Michigan State Spartans to watch during the 2016 college football season.

To remember one of the best Michigan State squads, Spartan Digest brings you Spartan 52 for 2016. Why “52”? To remember the 1952 team coached by Clarence Lester “Biggie” Munn that went 9-0 winning a National Championship by being voted No. 1 in both the AP and Coaches’ polls. Munn was also named the AFCA Coach of the Year. So to start our official countdown to the season we announce the 52 most important Spartans for 2016. We continue at No. 47 defensive lineman Josh King.

#47 Josh King

The trend continues in our countdown as we have to plug in possible pieces for the Spartans defensive line.  Josh King is another of the highly touted defensive linemen in the 2016 class that Ron Burton could turn to for help.  However, a lot will be based on how King comes into camp following the summer.

Ranked by Scout as the No. 168 overall prospect and No. 22 defensive end, King signing with the Michigan State Spartans was a huge get as he was considered the No. 3 defensive end in the Midwest.

The need is there for a player like King to open a few eyes early in camp and push to get meaningful reps along the front four.  Will he be ready is the biggest question to be answered but we feel the athletic ability is there to get some time if needed.
