We continue our countdown of the 52 Michigan State Spartans to watch during the 2016 college football season.

To remember one of the best Michigan State squads, Spartan Digest brings you Spartan 52 for 2016. Why “52”? To remember the 1952 team coached by Clarence Lester “Biggie” Munn that went 9-0 winning a National Championship by being voted No. 1 in both the AP and Coaches’ polls. Munn was also named the AFCA Coach of the Year. So to start our official countdown to the season we announce the 52 most important Spartans for 2016. No. 41 is offensive lineman Nick Padla.

#41 Nick Padla

When the 2016 season ends we might find this to be low for Padla.  In the spring Padla was third at right guard, however, the performance of Miguel Machado left much to be desired last season and Padla could see a move up the depth chart.

Not much to write about with Padla last season as he continued to work on technique and getting ready for his opportunity to show what he’s got.

There is a chance that Padla could move up the depth chart at right guard with Brandon Clemons expected to earn the starting spot.  As we stated above, Machado is a big question mark going into the season and if called upon he must step forward.  If not, Mark Staten and Michigan State Spartans could very well look at the redshirt sophomore.
