We continue our countdown of the 52 Michigan State Spartans to watch during the 2016 college football season.

To remember one of the best Michigan State squads, Spartan Digest brings you Spartan 52 for 2016. Why “52”? To remember the 1952 team coached by Clarence Lester “Biggie” Munn that went 9-0 winning a National Championship by being voted No. 1 in both the AP and Coaches’ polls. Munn was also named the AFCA Coach of the Year. So to start our official countdown to the season we announce the 52 most important Spartans for 2016.

#37 Miguel Machado

One would think with a player on the two-deep along the offensive line he would be listed much higher.  But after watching Machado last season on the field we were left wondering if he would be good enough to take a starting role.  Our conclusion is we hope we never see it happen.

Entered last season as the back-up at right tackle behind Kodi Kieler.  Because of injuries we got a quick look at the Florida native and it was not a pretty site.

The Spartans are rebuilding the offensive line and while we don’t see Machado as a starter, he is a senior with some experience and will be looked upon to provide depth if needed.  However, he could see others pass him by if he doesn’t step up his game.
