We continue our countdown of the 52 Michigan State Spartans to watch during the 2016 season.

To remember one of the best Michigan State squads, Spartan Digest brings your Spartan 52 for 2016. Why “52”? To remember the 1952 team coached by Clarence Lester “Biggie” Munn that went 9-0 winning a National Championship by being voted No. 1 in both the AP and Coaches’ polls. Munn was also named the AFCA Coach of the Year.

#18 Jon Reschke

After fighting off injuries early in his career, Reschke stepped forward showing the ability that made him a prize recruit for the Spartans defense in the 2013 recruiting class.  Entered spring as the starting Sam linebacker and will do so when the Spartans open camp.

Was on the field as a starter for all 14 games the Spartans played in 2015 and finished ranked fifth on the team with 75 tackles. Earned honorable mention All-Big Ten from the coaches and media for his play while also being named aa the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week for his play against Ohio State in the Spartans 17-14 victory over the Buckeyes.

Reschke stepped forward after the Spartans loss Ed Davis during preseason camp making the move from Mike backer to Sam backer.  This allowed the Sterling Heights, Michigan native to show why many considered him one of the top prospects in the nation during his prep career.  More will be expected out Reschke this season as the Spartans defense looks to be the strength of the team.  And Spartan Digest feels he's ready to take his game up another notch.
