We continue our countdown of the 52 Michigan State Spartans to watch during the 2016 season.

To remember one of the best Michigan State squads, Spartan Digest brings your Spartan 52 for 2016. Why “52”? To remember the 1952 team coached by Clarence Lester “Biggie” Munn that went 9-0 winning a National Championship by being voted No. 1 in both the AP and Coaches’ polls. Munn was also named the AFCA Coach of the Year.

#17 David Beedle

While in high school Spartan Digest was very high on what the future would be for Beedle.  An offensive lineman with the mentality of a defensive lineman is always a positive.  Has the ability to play tackle or guard and was listed as a possible starter at left tackle during the spring.

2015

Injuries moved Beedle from special teams to player to watch along the Spartans offensive line last season.  By the middle of the season Beedle was getting meaningful reps and showed a bright future.

WHY HE MADE THE COUNTDOWN

While Spartan Digest feels Beedle won’t be the starter at left tackle when the season opens.  He will be a valuable asset and could see reps during the early part of the season.  We also would not be surprised if Beedle works his way into a starting role at another spot along the line and feel he could be the offensive lineman that takes his game to another level by the time the 2016 season ends.
