Former Michigan State standout punter Mike Sadler died in a car accident along with Nebraska punter Sam Foltz on Saturday night in Wisconsin.

Former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler, who attended forest Hills Northern High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan prior to his Spartans career, left his mark on and off the field.

Sunday, all Spartans learned of the loss of Sadler who passed away in a car accident with current Nebraska punter Sam Foltz on Saturday night in Wisconsin.

On the field Sadler was a four-year starter (2011-14) for Mark Dantonio and finished his career ranked among MSU’s all-time leaders.  Off the field, Sadler was the first four-time academic all-American in school history and a finalist for the 2014 William V. Campbell Trophy.

This fall Sadler had plans to attend Stanford Law School.

However, what Sadler may be most remembered by is his wit and charm with teammates and members of the media.

Dantonio, former teammates and others from the Big Ten took to Twitter with their thoughts on the loss of Sadler.

He was just 24.
