We continue our countdown of the 52 Michigan State Spartans to watch during the 2016 season.

To remember one of the best Michigan State squads, Spartan Digest brings you our Spartan 52 for 2016. Why “52”? to remember the 1952 team coach by Clarence Lester “Biggie” Munn that went 9-0 winning a National Championship by being voted No. 1 in both the AP and Coaches’ polls. Munn was also named AFCA Coach of the Year.

#8 Brian Allen

Only a junior, Allen will be the leader of the Spartans offensive line in 2016.  Two-year letterman who has played in 26 games with 13 starts has proven his toughness and leadership abilities.  A move to guard could use his athletic ability during pull plays.

2015

Posted 12 starts and played in all 14 games saw Allen take reps at left guard and center.  Added second-team All-Big Ten honors from the coaches and media.  May have played his best game against Ohio State in the Spartans big win over the Buckeyes.

WHY HE MADE THE COUNTDOWN

We fully expect Allen to continue taking his game up a level and use his natural leadership abilities to help a young Spartans offensive line gel early in the season.  With two seasons ahead of him we would not be surprised if Allen is selected a captain.  Will no longer be overshadowed by his older brother Jack Allen.
