The clock is ticking down towards Josiah Scott making his college future known. Thursday, Scott will be making a return trip to East Lansing to visit with the Michigan State Spartans and knows this is the next step before making his pledge on Sunday afternoon.
“I’ve been up to Michigan State many times so it’s not really about me getting up there to see stuff,” said Scott. “This visit is all about my mom and brothers as they’ve not been up there. So it’s about what they are going to see as I already know what I’m seeing and what I would be getting. But I want my mom and family to see it. My mom hasn’t been to any of the schools I’m considering, so this is the first time.”
Since receiving his offer from the Spartans, Scott has stayed in contact with MSU about this trip to make sure all bases are covered.
“I’ve stayed in contact with Coach (Harlon) Barnett as we planned on getting up there,” he said. “This trip for me will be more about academics. So I’m looking forward to this as I’ve not really dug into the academics. I’m looking to study sports management or physical therapy but I’m not really sure yet.”
The Spartans get their shot to close the deal with Scott with his Sunday decision only a few days away. For Scott the chance to put the recruiting process behind him is something he’s ready to get done.
“I’m ready to focus on my senior year and get this over with,” Scott stressed. “It’s been a long, stressful and hard process. I feel like a huge weight will be lifted off my shoulders once I make my decision. I’m excited but nervous at the same time.”
Scott was hoping to keep his Thursday visit a secret from the outside world. However, he’s learned when it comes to recruiting things have a way of leaking. Spartan Digest hopes to catch up with Scott following the visit but he said he might keep things close to the vest until his announcement.
