#3 L.J. Scott
Scott entered Michigan State with a lot of hype and delivered what was expect from fans becoming the first freshman to lead the Spartans in rushing since Larry Caper did the feat in 2009. Now he’ll need to take another step forward to reach his full potential.
Led the Spartans in rushing with 699 yards, carries with 146 and rushing touchdowns with 11. Named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team by ESPN but will best be remembered for his performance against Iowa in the Big Ten Championships Game when he led all rushers with 77 yards on 22 carries, including the Spartans game winning touchdown on third-and-goal with 27 seconds remaining in the game.
WHY HE MADE THE COUNTDOWN
It is no secret Michigan State will be a run first offense as they look to replace Connor Cook at quarterback and three starting offensive linemen. Scott is not the only back the Spartans can count on this fall but will be the one fans and opposing teams will be focused on. With his size and physical abilities Scott has a chance to become the next great Dantonio back. Now he’ll need to make sure he doesn’t suffer from the sophomore slump.
