For the third consecutive season the Michigan State Spartans enter the season ranked in the coaches poll at No. 11.

Coming off a Big Ten Championship and appearance in the College Football Playoff last season doesn’t mean members of the Amway Coaches Poll have lots of love for the Michigan State Spartans. The first poll of the season has been released with the Spartans coming in at No. 11.

As one of only four schools in college football to play in a Bowl Championship Game (Rose Bowl), a New Year’s Six game (Cotton Bowl) and College Football Playoff (Cotton Bowl) in the last three seasons, the Michigan State Spartans found some love from the coaches that take part in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll.

The Spartans finished last season with a 12-2 mark and ranked in the Top 10 (No. 6) for the third consecutive year following their Big Ten Championship win over Iowa and appearance against Alabama in the CFP Semifinal game.

With 12 starters returning this season and a total of 28 players returning that have starting experience, coaches in the Amway Coaches Poll ranked the Spartans in their preseason poll at No. 11.

This is the third consecutive season the Spartans have entered a season ranked in the preseason poll.
