Ohio 2018 safety/running back Dawson Martin excited to visit Michigan State this weekend.

Dayton (Ohio) Belmont safety/running back Dawson Martin is about to take in the sights of his first college football game on Saturday when he visits Michigan State. We caught up with Dawson to talk about his upcoming visit with the Spartans.

Michigan State had a chance to watch junior safety/running back Dawson Martin out of Dayton (Ohio) Dunbar when the Spartans took part in the Midwest Gridiron Showcase in June at Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne High School.

Martin, who has heard a lot about the Spartans from his head coach at Belmont, Earl White who also coached current Spartans cornerback Vayante Copeland and Martin's older brother Deangelo at Thurgood Marshall High School .

“I’ve never been to Michigan State,” said Martin.  “I’m looking forward to talking with Coach (Harlon) Barnett and learn more about them.  I don’t really know much about them.  This is my first college game and I’m pretty excited.

What does Martin hope to see while on campus?

“I hope to see if I could fit in there if they were to recruit me,” he said.   “I also want to see the facilities and how the fan base is.  I’ve been watching Tay Tay (Copeland) in games so it will be neat to see him.”

While Dawson is just starting to get on the radar, he’s hearing from a handful of schools already following a very successful sophomore season.

“I’m currently hearing from Purdue, Ohio University, Illinois, Eastern Michigan and Ball State,” he said.  “Several of them want me to visit for a game and I hope to have a chance to do so.”

We’ll catch up with Dawson following his visit with the Spartans on Saturday.
