Michigan State senior safety Demetrious Cox was very blunt following the Spartans 55-40 loss to Northwestern on Saturday.

With the Michigan State Spartans in the midst of a four game losing streak, senior safety Demetrious Cox is disappointed in how the team is performing.

“To be blunt it is very disappointing, we are not meeting expectations right now,” said Cox.  “A lot of things as a whole didn't go our way, a lot of blown assignments, things like that. A lot of balls didn't bounce our ways.”

Cox knows as one of the Spartans team captains, he’s one of three responsible for keeping this team together and motivated the rest of the season.

“Obviously the three captains, really we just have to take accountability,” he said.  “Everybody on every play, in every practice, we've got to take accountability for ourselves and get our job done.

“It just comes with adversity, it's just life, it's just a game. It means there could be a lot worse things, but really we just have to understand that everybody is coming at us, we were Big Ten Champions, everybody is going to come give us their best. We can either roll over or we can fight back, win, win, win.”
