Back in June, Ratliff showed off his quick burst during the Spartans summer camp but was told he needed to get bigger than his 230-pounds he was carrying at the time.
This weekend Ratliff showed up for the Spartans game against Northwestern carrying a solid 255-pounds on his 6-foot-3 frame.
What did the Spartan coaching staff say?
“It was a good day as I got a chance to talk with Coach (Mike) Tressel and the other coaches as well as Coach (Curtis) Blackwell,” said Ratliff. “I really like Coach Blackwell as he was the one that set up my visit.
“I didn’t expect to get too much time from the coaches as they had a lot of recruits on hand. But Coach Blackwell talked with me about my season and how my team is doing and stressed how they are watching me
It was a good day, I got to talk with Coach Tressel and the other coaches and also with Coach Blackwell. I really like Coach Blackwell as he was the one that set up my visits. I really liked the atmosphere and it was a great day.
I didn’t expect to get too much time from the coaches as they had a lot of recruits. But Coach Blackwell set everything up and we talked about my high school and how we’re doing this year and that they are watching me.
I want to get more attention from Michigan State and understand that I might need to go back up to camp in the summer and show them how much I’ve improved.
I got to see the team meets, the practice facilities and the football offices along with the stadium and getting a chance to stand on the sidelines before the game was cool. But I saw a lot and it was really cool.
It would mean a lot to earn an offer from Michigan State as it’s a big school and really good academically. I’m interested in studying law and they have a very good law school. I like the school period as it’s a good football school and a good academic school and there is nothing really not to like about it.
I’m hearing and seeing a lot of interest from Duke, Marshall and a few other programs.
