2018 Florida receiver would like to hear more from Michigan State
Michigan State has offered just 15 wide receivers in the class of 2018 and Kevin Austin Jr., out of North Broward Prep in Coconut Creek, Florida, was the second wide receiver offered in the class. Austin Jr. received his offer from Michigan State nearly a year ago but contact from the staff has faded. Austin wishes to pick up communication with the Spartans again.
In his junior season the 6’4” 190 pound playmaker hauled in 41 receptions for 1021 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns. He also rushed for an additional 8 touchdowns. Since his offer from the Spartans, Austin has picked up offers from many of the top programs in the nation such as Ohio State, Tennessee, Notre Dame, University of Michigan, and Wisconsin, among others. Now he holds more than 25 scholarships.
Knowing that he was the second wide receiver offered in the class of 2018 for the Spartans sticks with Austin. “It makes me feel like they were thinking about me first,” he explained to me. Austin has been hearing less and less from the Michigan State coaches lately but he added “I would like to start hearing from Michigan State more. I would like to get in touch with their coaches more often.”
Michigan State is known for having a “family atmosphere” when it comes to recruiting, and that is a factor that Michigan State recruits commonly speak of when they discuss the school. The one thing that stands out to Austin lines up with that statement. “I like the culture about the program.” he said, “They have a really nice family atmosphere.”
As Kevin Austin Jr. does not hear much from Michigan State anymore, but would like for that to change, he explained the schools that do recruit him the most often “I hear from a lot of schools most often such as Ohio State, Kentucky, Miami, Tennessee, and a few others.” As far as visits go, Austin is working on sorting out the unofficial visits he will take in the spring and summer. “Many schools have told me to come up for their junior days.” He would like to visit Michigan State for their junior day as well.
Scout has yet to assign a star rating or ranking to Kevin Austin Jr. Spartan Nation will follow Austin and provide updates in the interest he receives from Michigan State.
