Highly sought after 2019 OL Will Putnam talks Michigan State offer and breaks down his relationship with Coach Samuel

Highly sought after 2019 OL Will Putnam talks Michigan State offer and breaks down his relationship with Coach Samuel

Michigan State (MSU) has extended an offer to another 2019 prospect, this time coming from William Putnam, a 6’4”, 265 pound offensive linemen from Chatham, Illinois. His offer from MSU marks his ninth offer. Will also holds offers from Ohio State, Penn State, Georgia, Pittsburg, and others.

Will is very familiar with the Spartans’ program. “I've been up to Michigan State a few times and it's been a great experience each time. It just feels good when a school that you have visited multiple times offers you,” he explained. Will has visited the school multiple times, and even camped over the summer. I did camp over the summer. Honestly I didn't have the best experience at the camp. “But I believe after my recruitment has opened up our relationship has changed for the better.”

Relationships with coaches is a huge factor in Putnam’s recruitment, and his relationship with Coach Samuel, his primary recruiter at MSU, is as good as it gets. “Coach Samuel is the coach I talk to at MSU. He's a guy that's very easy to talk with. He really likes my film and how I play.”

Similar to how Will keeps a tight relationship with Coach Samuel and MSU, he also does so with a few other schools. “I have good relationships with most of the schools that have offered me. Even the ones that offered me awhile ago like Illinois and Pitt.”

On the field, it is safe to say Will is a monster. “I like to play hard and nasty,” he added. Will also described what his identity is on the football field, “Will Putnam on the field is bully, a guy who tries to inflict as much pain upon the other team as possible, big or small it doesn't matter to him.”

Will is in the middle of wrestling season right now, holding a 10-1 record right now in his weight class. Once his season concludes, Will will look to visit schools, including MSU. “Right now I'm wrestling and focusing on that. After the season I will look more into visits,” said Will.

Scout has yet to rate William Putnam, but based on his 10 early offers from top programs, he will be one of the most sought-after recruits in the Midwest. As always, Spartan Nation will continue to follow Will as he looks to visit MSU and other schools after his wrestling season.
