Jalen offered his thoughts for his offer from Michigan State, saying, "an offer from Michigan State really means a lot to me. I am very thankful that Coach Dantonio and Coach Samuel gave me the opportunity to play at Michigan State and in the Big 10." Before landing an offer from the Spartans, the unranked receiver held offers from University of Massachusetts, South Alabama, Ball State, Alcorn State, and others.

One attribute of the Michigan State program is their recent production of NFL wide receivers. That stands out to Jalen as he explained, "It shows that they are teaching and coaching the wide receiver position well and pushing their players to become better each and every day. That appeals to me."

Receiving his offer was a special moment for Jalen. He spoke of the process of being offered, "When Coach Blackwell offered me, my head coach texted me during class and told me to come see him. When I got there, he gave me Coach Blackwell's number and told me to call him. I called coach, we talked, and he offered me. It was a very cool experience." The communication Jalen continued with the staff was important for him. "My communication with the coaches was the key because without that I might not have had the opportunity to play at Michigan State. This allowed the coaches to see what type of person I am and if they would want someone like me to play for them."

As Jalen leaves to see the school for the first time today, he offered his thoughts for what he would like to see and experience on his official visit. "I would like to see the environment that I would be living in and the facilities in which I would spend my time working to get better. Also I want to see what the education is like that I would receive at Michigan State."

Spartan Nation asked Jalen to explain what his "elevator pitch" would be to Spartan fans. "I'm a taller receiver with the ability to run and jump! Some of my strengths on the field include things like my route running and ball skills," he answered, "With that being said, I still have room to improve and things to work at to become a better football player."

Jalen Tolbert has is not yet rated by Scout. Spartan Nation will keep up with Tolbert as he makes his visit to East Lansing and nears a final decision.
