WHAT IS THERE TO LIKE WITH GILLISON?
First off, the size and speed combination of Trenton Gillison is outstanding. The four-star recruit is the prototype tight end in today's passing era of college football. Gillison is extremely athletic, and a tough matchup down the seam or across the middle. Michigan State could also split him out wide to create mismatches with smaller defensive backs. Gillison has good hands and catches everything thrown his way. He could play defensive end, but we feel his future lies on the offensive side of the football.
WHAT ARE THE CONCERNS WITH GILLISON?
Not too much, to be honest. The main questions will be his physical strength and his willingness to block. With another of high school remaining, Gillison's body will continue to get bigger and stronger. This will increase once he arrives in East Lansing to go through the strength and conditioning program. To play for Michigan State, Gillison will need to improve his blocking, but he has the size and the heart to become proficient in this area.
WHAT ARE THE INTANGIBLES WITH GILLISON?
Much like his teammate that is committed to the Spartans, Xavier Henderson, these are kids that play against top competition each and every week in Ohio. These guys are used to winning and love to compete. Gillison is a player that his coaches rave about his leadership skills and his work ethic. There are zero red flags with this quality of a person.
