2017 Hartland, Wisconsin outside linebacker Noah Harvey has committed to Coach Dantonio and the Michigan State Spartans on a gray shirt scholarship offer. He committed to Bowling Green on January 22nd, but during his official visit to Michigan State this past weekend, he knew where immediately that he belonged in East Lansing.
Noah reflected on his time in East Lansing over the weekend, “My visit at Michigan State was awesome, I had a great time with all the coaches and other recruits.” While he was on his visit, he informed his primary recruiter, Coach Tressel of his plans to flip to the Spartans. “The first coach I told was Tressel, and he was ecstatic. He has wanted me on the team for a while now and making it official was music to his ears.”
His official visit was not the first time Noah had visited Michigan State. Before his visit over the weekend, his most recent trip was when the Spartans hosted the Wolverines in October.
He also explained why he made the choice to flip from Bowling Green and accept his gray shirt offer from MSU, saying “My dream as a kid was to play in the B1G, and having this much of an opportunity was something I couldn't pass up. After my visit was when I knew it was right.”
As a gray shirt commitment, Noah will go to class for the first semester as part-time students, either at MSU, without starting their eligibility clocks. Then he will begin as a full-time student on scholarship. He will have five years to play four seasons, with the ability to redshirt at some point. In the class of 2016, kicker Matthew Coghlin, a Spartan signee came to MSU as a gray shirt commitment.
Lastly, Noah spoke of what the opportunity to become a Spartan means to him. He said, “It’s exciting and humbling, I can't wait to see what the future holds!”
Noah Harvey is rated by Scout as a three-star outside linebacker. Make sure to keep up with Spartan Nation for all National Signing Day news tomorrow and beyond, as the staff looks ahead to future recruiting classes.
