In-state 2018 three-star athlete Myles McHaney talks MSU visit and hopes for an offer from the Spartans

2018 three-star athlete Myles McHaney has visited Michigan State a handful of times. The Macomb, Michigan standout most recently made it up to East Lansing for the Spartans basketball victory over Iowa. Spartan Nation caught up with Myles to discuss his visit and see where he is at in his recruitment.

He recapped his visit, saying, “it was great! I loved touring the facility and seeing everything that MSU has to offer!” As far as a favorite aspect of his visit, he went on to say, “I enjoyed touring the indoor facility and weight room the most.” Coach Brad Salem is Myles’ primary recruiter, and he is a big factor in the Spartans’ evaluation and recruitment of the 6’3”, 195 pound athlete. “I talk to Brad Salem the most. He makes me feel welcomed and feel that I belong there,” he said.

As of now, Myles holds one offer from Central Michigan, but that is bound to change with the recent surge of interest he has been receiving. “Central Michigan, Easter Michigan, Toledo, Bowling Green, and Iowa State are the schools I’ve been hearing from the most besides Michigan State,” he explained, “and I’ve been receiving interest from some SEC schools as well.”

Despite his increased interest, Myles still favors one team above all others, the Spartans. As he is under evaluation by the staff, and working towards an offer, he talked about what an offer from Michigan State would mean, saying, “It might close my recruitment! Depending on the situation and how interested they are in me. An offer from Michigan State would increase the amount of schools that would take interest in me.”

The versatile athlete will bring strength to any team. He mainly plays safety and wide receiver, but can line up at a number of other positions. Myles commented on how he plays. “I react to situations smart and aggressive. My Rule of thumb is the low man wins! My strengths are Im aggressive and I use my length and my speed to my advantage! Everything that I do is going 100 percent.” He also described what he can work on, saying, “I could improve more on my technique.”

Scout rates Myles McHaney a three-star athlete. Spartan Nation will keep u with Myles as he looks to visit other schools, and ultimately works towards a Michigan State offer.
