The class of 2018 is the current recruiting cycle. However, looking forward to the class of 2020, a quarterback from Marietta, Georgia by the name of Harrison Bailey already has a more impressive offer sheet than many recruits in the class of 2018. His 14 offers include Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, and most recently Michigan State during his visit this past weekend. Spartan Nation caught up with Harrison to discuss his visit and offer.
As a freshman in high school, Harrison measures in at 6’4” and 195 pounds. His size for a freshman quarterback is unheard of, and even in larger than most linemen on his team. This past weekend, Harrison and his family made the trip from Georgia to Michigan to visit Michigan State for the first time. His visit also came with an offer, to which he values greatly. “My visit went very well I enjoyed it a lot! The coaches made me feel at home in East Lansing,” he explained.
Michigan State has had great success with producing quarterbacks in the NFL since Mark Dantonio’s arrival. Drew Stanton, Nick Foles (transfer), Brian Hoyer, Kirk Cousins, and Connor Cook have all started on NFL rosters after their time at Michigan State. Harrison recognizes the trend and sees the opportunity presented to him with the offer from the Spartans. “It’s a great offer to have,” said Harrison, “at the practice, Coach Dantonio told me that I had an opportunity to play at Michigan state and that he was offering me.”
One thing that stood out to the Army All-American quarterback is the welcoming feeling he received during his visit. “For me, the best part of the visit was the coaching staff and how they treated me like I was already on their team. Overall it was a great experience!”
As of now, Harrison has no other visits set up.
Scout has yet to rank the class of 2020, but Harrison Bailey figures to ranked among the top players in his class when the ratings are released.
