Recently offered three-star Utah defensive tackle talks MSU offer and connection to Spartan Football team

Michigan State (MSU) dipped into the state of Utah to extend an offer to 2018 three-star defensive tackle Jackson Cravens. In Soon-to-be sophomore Mufi Hunt is the only current Spartan from Utah, but Jackson would entertain the idea of becoming the second. In fact, Jackson has a connection to MSU, so that idea may be more possible than expected. Spartan Nation caught up with the recently offered 6'3", 270 pound defensive tackle to learn about his connection and interest with MSU.

Jackson is from Provo, Utah, less than 50 miles south of Salt Lake City. There, he has made quite a name for himself, having earned offers from Utah, Boise State, Vanderbilt, and a few others including, most recently, Michigan State. On Thursday, Jackson received his best news in his recruitment to date. "Coach Burton offered me over the phone on Thursday," he said. "The offer means a lot to me. I'm impressed with their success on the defensive line and it just shows how they have a tradition and how good their coaches are."

As mentioned earlier, Jackson has a family connection to the Michigan State Football team. "I am related to Mufi Hunt. Our parents are first cousins which makes us second cousins,"  he explained. Jackson has been under consideration for a while, and Mufi has known. "He told me it's a great college town with a great atmosphere on and off the field." Now that Jackson holds an offer, Mufi will work hard to try and get Jackson to join forces with him on the defensive line.

Jackson has yet to make a trip to East Lansing to visit Michigan State, however he plans on changing that very soon. "Yes I do plan to get up there!" He has high expectations for his upcoming visit based on what Mufi tells him, but Jackson knows the visit will exceed his expectations. “I hope to see a team that is close to each other with a great atmosphere. I'm sure I will see that,” Jackson said.

Scout rates Jackson Cravens a three-star defensive tackle. Stay on the look out for an upcoming visit from Jackson, as he looks to see what Michigan State is all about.
