Big-bodied 2019 defensive linemen from Georgia comes away "very impressed" with his first unofficial visit to Michigan State!

Its no secret, Michigan State (MSU) has made the the state of Georgia a major priority for recruiting in the past few years. In return, Georgia has provided the Spartans with some top talent. Current NFL players Darqueze Dennard and Keith Mumphery were both three-star and unranked recruits before being offered from the Spartans. They both went on to contribute greatly at MSU, and were now enjoying successful professional careers. Now, MSU has continued look to Georgia for additional future stars, and in the class of 2019, Bryce Nelms has the potential to fit the bill.

This past Friday, one of Georgia’s most physically gifted athletes traveled to Michigan to take his first unofficial visit at MSU. He stands at 6’6”, 250 pounds, and is very interested in the Spartans. Bryce spoke of his first visit, “The visit was awesome, it was my first time there and I was very impressed.” The weather was 72 degrees and sunny, making it a perfect day to visit MSU. Bryce came away with a great impression of the school in general. “I really like the school, the campus was beautiful.”

One aspect of his visit that stood out to him the most. “The thing I loved the most was their hospitality and the culture of the school.” Bryce is being recruited as a defensive linemen, as he has the size to line up at both end and tackle. “I got to meet the defensive line coach, Coach Burton. He told me I had bright future.” Bryce is looking forward to developing his relationship with Coach Burton and the other Spartan coaches as his recruitment continues.

Bryce was not able to attend a Spring practice, as time was limited, but the rising sophomore hopes to come back to observe one. He spoke of his enjoyment for the short time he spent in East Lansing, saying “I was very impressed with what I saw. I didn't see much but what I did see was great. I hope to be back more to see everything the school has to offer!”

As of now, Bryce does not hold any scholarship offers, but expect that change soon. He is in contact with Michigan State, Alabama, Notre Dame, Georgia, Georgia State, South Carolina State, and others. Bryce spoke of what a potential scholarship offer from the Spartans would mean to him. Earning an offer [from MSU] would mean a lot because that would be my first offer. I love their defense and could fit in well!”

It is very early in Bryce Nelms’ recruitment and Scout does not rate the defensive linemen yet. Look out for a big summer from Bryce as he looks to earn scholarships from the Spartans and others. Spartan Nation will keep up with Bryce as he looks to return to MSU in the near future.
