It's no secret, in-state three-star athlete Jaylan Franklin is one of the nation's most versatile recruits. Standing at 6'4", and just about 200 pounds, Jaylan has the body to line up at nearly any position on the football field. Michigan State (MSU) extended an offer to the three-star athlete in February, and the Spartans have been on his mind ever since. This past weekend, Jaylan made a return visit to Michigan State to take in the Spring Game.
Jaylan is no stranger around East Lansing, in fact he has lost count of the number of unofficial visits he has taken at MSU. This past visit was no different than his first visit, in the sense that he feels wanted and accepted at the school. ”It was good , a lot of the same feeling I have been getting a very relaxed feeling, but the coaches seemed to be pretty fired up!" he exclaimed.
Jaylan, who is being recruited as an outside linebacker and defensive end hybrid, learned a lot about Michigan State’s program while watching the game, and he saw his own opportunity during it. “I think I could see a use for myself out there,” he added. The defense flashed signs of exceptional pass rushing and Jaylan believes he could fit right in. “I feel my presence on the field would rush the quarterback into making quicker decisions.”
The recruiting process has just gotten a little more serious for the three-star athlete since his offer from the Spartans. Jaylan has began focusing on schools who prioritize him the most as he looks to eventually find the right school for him. It was important that the coaches at MSU made sure to make Jaylan feel wanted this weekend, and that is exactly what they did. “The fact that I felt the staff knew me they talked to me and I didn't have to introduce myself it seemed as if my presence was just known,” said Jaylan, “I loved that and it was good to talk with to some of my favorite people at the university again.”
Jaylan has some good news for Spartan fans. Commenting on where the Spartans sit in his recruitment, he said, “They are one of my top schools, if not the top.”
As MSU may sit atop the star in-state athlete’s list, Jaylan’s recruitment is not quite concluded. “I will end my recruitment process right before my senior season preferable the first game to release some stress and play without having to worry about other colleges,” Jaylan stated. Look for the Spartans to remain at the top for the remainder of his recruitment.
