Michigan State has extended a scholarship to one of the top targets on their 2018 recruiting board, three-star running back Henry Geil from Green Bay, Wisconsin. Henry is a big, physical running back that would bring power to the Spartans offense. Now that the Spartans have jumped in the race for his services, the 6’0”, 208 pound running back, he his ready to speed up his recruiting process, and come to a decision. Henry talked about the importance of his offer with Spartan Nation shorty after receiving his offer from Michigan State University.
“Wow, its an honor,” Henry explained to Spartan Nation after learning that he has a spot on the Spartans Football team. “A big honor,” he went onto reiterate. What makes it such a big honor for Henry is the opportunity presented to him available at Michigan State. “A relatively thin yet talented running back core with lots of uncertainty,” he spoke of the opportunity.
It’s no secret, Henry is one of the most physical running backs in the nation. Not too long ago, at the Nike Opening regional camp in Chicago, he showcased that. He was stated to be “a dominating blocker. Also, a great runner but an underrated unselfish bruiser. Great teammate and overall winner.” at the event. MSU has identified his physicality and potential to be a star at the running back position and has made it clear to Henry that that is the case. “It’s an honor to be thought of that way, a big one!”
Henry has already been to East Lansing once to camp and tour Michigan State, but is looking for that number to change. “I'd love to visit soon! I'll check out when I'm available and be there as soon as possible,” he said. As Henry knows he is high up on the Spartans’ radar for running backs, he feels a sense of excitement about it. “I like that,” said Henry, “I can't wait to visit. I know they're only taking one or two [running backs] so I'm eager to move the process along!”
Although he is very impressed with Michigan State, Henry also has to examine his options elsewhere in order to come to a decision. “Now that Michigan State has offered, I think 'll come out with my top three,” he said, “I'll be committing within a month of coming out with the top three.”
Again, he reiterated that a decision should be expected sometime in the near future, “I don't know where I’ll be committing to, but it'll be soon now that Michigan State has offered,” he explained. One school in particular that should serve as the main competition for the Spartans is the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Henry Geil is rated a three-star running back by Scout. Remember to follow Spartan Nation for all updates for 2018 football recruiting!
