Michigan State Football & Mark Dantonio Lose Another Player: CB Kaleel Gaines!
While Spartan Nation has maintained since we first reported on May 26 (Read proof here Proof 1 Proof 2) that we did not expect Michigan State DB Kaleel Gaines to contribute in 2017, today it was made public. Via a popular junior college athletics Twitter account that announced Spartan DB Kaleel Gaines is transferring from Spartan Football
Gaines is the third player to depart this offseason. OL Thiyo Lukusa and LB Jon Reschke did as well. While both Lukusa and Reschke were starters, Gaines was expected to compete for the backup CB role or perhaps the nickel corner. He was also expected to be a significant player on special tems.
The Spartans presently have three players suspended for an alleged sexual assault. Those players have already been found guilty of violating school policy via a Title IX investigation and are awaiting charges should they be filed by the Ingham County Prosecutor. Those charges are expected to come early next week per a source close to the situation. Regardless of charges being filed or not, none of the three are expected to return to Michigan State.
