WARNING DETAILS OF THIS ALLEGED CRIME ARE INCLUDED AND VERY GRAPHIC!
East Lansing, MI
Yesterday the Ingham County Prosecutor (ICP) Carol A. Siemon announced that the three suspended Michigan State football players were going to be charged. This was her entire statement:
The Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office was presented with evidence of suspected sexual assault, from a January 16 incident on the campus of Michigan State University. This case was investigated by the Michigan State University Police Department.
I have decided to authorize sexual assault charges against the three persons whose warrants were requested by the MSU Police. We are alleging that on the night of January 16, those three persons sexually assaulted a woman in an East Lansing apartment on campus.
At this point, the criminal charges are only an accusation, and the accused should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Our office also reviewed charges against an individual who previously worked for the Michigan State University football program. This did not concern any allegation of criminal sexual conduct. After review, I have declined to issue charges and no warrant will be issued. It is our practice not to release names of suspects in denied cases.
Moments ago Judge Richard Ball authorized criminal sexual assault charges in the case in 54b District court. The three players are WR Donnie Corley from Detroit, Michigan, DE Josh King from Chicago, Illinois and DB Demetric Vance from Detroit, Michigan.
The Police allege that King forced the alleged victim into a restroom in an apartment where he removed her clothes and penetrated her against her will. The police also allege that King the allowed Corley and Vance to enter the bathroom and she as forced to perform oral sex on them, also against her will.
King is facing a first and third degree criminal sexual assault charge as well as capturing/distribution image of unclothed person. while Corley and Vance are facing a first degree. According to police all three originally denied to law enforcement that sexual actions occurred before later changing their story.
Here is a complete release from the Michigan State University Police Department issued moments ago:
East Lansing, Mich. -- After an extensive criminal investigation by the Michigan State University Police Department, the Ingham County Prosecutor’s Office has charged Joshua J. King, Demetric D. Vance and Donnie L. Corley Jr. in relation to an incident that occurred Jan. 16 on campus.
King has been charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of capturing/distributing image of an unclothed person. Vance and Corley Jr. each has been charged with one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The prosecutor’s office authorized the charges June 5, and an Ingham County District Court judge signed arrest warrants June 6.
“The MSU Police Department has zero tolerance for sexual assault,” MSU Police Chief Jim Dunlap said. “I’m confident that this extensive investigation was completed thoroughly, and our detectives worked diligently and exhaustively in providing information to the prosecutor’s office.”
Throughout the investigation, MSU Police detectives conducted more than 1,500 hours of investigation, including more than 100 interviews and contacts.
All three of them were found guilty in a Michigan State University Title IX investigation. YOU CAN READ THAT HERE. Regardless of the outcome of this case, all three are expected to be expelled for that Title IX case.
A press conference should happen later today with AD Mark Hollis and head coach Mark Dantonio to address the current status of Spartan Football.
