MSU Baseball Adds Player For 2018 Season

Utility player Zach Iverson will join Spartans in fall of 2017.

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State baseball head coach Jake Boss Jr., announced that Zach Iverson will be joining MSU in the fall of 2017. Iverson is a utility player from Charlotte, North Carolina (Providence Day School).

“We’re excited to add Zach to the Spartan Baseball family. He is a young man that is very athletic, swings the bat extremely well, and has a chance to pitch for us as well,” Boss said. “Most importantly, he is a quality kid from a strong family and they have ties to the state of Michigan, so it is almost a homecoming for him. We’re glad that he’ll be wearing Green & White this fall.”

Iverson becomes the 11th member of the Spartans’ incoming class, joining Peter Ahn (Delafield, Wisconsin/Marquette University High School), Noah Bloye (Wyoming, Michigan/Byron Center High School), Scott Combs (Northville, Michigan/Divine Child High School), Evan Flohr (Northville, Michigan/Northville High School/Cypress College), Jesse Heikkinen (Holt, Michigan/Holt High School), Ryan King (Munster, Indiana/Brother Rice High School), Nic Lacayo (Colorado Springs, Colorado/Cheyenne Mountain High School/South Mountain Community College), Bailey Peterson (Grandville, Michigan/Grandville High School/Kellogg Community College); Adam Proctor (Saint Johns, Michigan/Saint Johns High School) and Brendan Regan (Sagamore Hills, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit High School), who will all join the Spartans for the 2017-18 season.

MSU Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Graham Sikes on Iverson: “Zach is a late bloomer with his best days still ahead of him. He has really blossomed this year into a dynamic two-way player. Zach can hit for average, for power, and can drive in a bunch of runs too, and he also has a chance to be really good on the mound as well. Once he starts our strength and conditioning program, I think his tools are going to be really, really dynamic. Zach can play a number of positions on the field, which will not only allow us some flexibility in the lineup, but we’re excited for him to make an immediate impact in our batting order as well.”
