Suton commits to MSU

Lansing Everett big man dons Michigan State hat as he announces decision to attend the East Lansing school in the fall and become Tom Izzo's third recruit for the 2004 season.

(EAST LANSING) - Initally overlooked in coach Tom Izzo's search for a big man to replace Erazem Lorbek, Goran Sutton, the 6' 10" high school senior from Lansing Everett announced in an 11:30am press conference today that he will attend Michigan State next season.

Sutton, one of the most sought after players in the state elected to stay close to his family and play for Izzo and the Spartans.

Sutton turned down Arizona State in favor of the Spartans. That leave MSU head coach Tom Izzo with one scholarship left to offer. He will likely will use it to land either Grand Ledge senior Al Horford, who today was dumped by Michigan after de-commiting from the school early last week, or Detroit Renaissance senior swingman Malik Hairston.

Michigan coach Tommy Amaker announced he would "no longer recruit" Horford. The senior plans to take an official visit to Florida and has taken an unofficial visit to MSU previously.
