"I verballed to Michigan State on my visit," the Sarasota Riverview standout told The Insiders.com's Josh Clark. "I chose them over Iowa State. The players at Michigan State connected with me better, and they have some real nice facilites. They have a bright future, which they showed this fall, and have a lot of talent coming up."
Clark describes McKenzie as a late bloomer who caught the eye of several college late for his ability as a running back and as a linebacker.
McKenzie had orally commited to Iowa State early in the recruiting wars, but then decommited, took some time to think and then decided to join the Spartans.
It was a good weekend for the Spartans who landed New Jersey linebacker Hugh D'Imperio on Saturday.
