Spartans get 28th verbal from solid Florida star

Michigan State now has 28 verbal commitments after solid Florida linebacker decides to join high profile Spartans recruiting class

(EAST LANSING) Michigan State landed their 28th verbal commitment when Florida linebacker Tyrone McKenzie gave the Spartans a solid commitment.

"I verballed to Michigan State on my visit," the Sarasota Riverview standout told The's Josh Clark. "I chose them over Iowa State. The players at Michigan State connected with me better, and they have some real nice facilites. They have a bright future, which they showed this fall, and have a lot of talent coming up."

Clark describes McKenzie as a late bloomer who caught the eye of several college late for his ability as a running back and as a linebacker.

McKenzie had orally commited to Iowa State early in the recruiting wars, but then decommited, took some time to think and then decided to join the Spartans.

It was a good weekend for the Spartans who landed New Jersey linebacker Hugh D'Imperio on Saturday.
