Steve Kielp Pulls The Trigger - He's a Spartan

Steve Kielp committed to the school that wanted him from the begining. The Michigan State Spartans landed one of the best linebackers in the nation this morning.

One of the top five prospects in the state of Illinois has decided he'll play his college football in the Big Ten. Steve Kielp called Michigan State head coach, Bobby Williams and committed this morning.

Kielp is a tremendous athlete, when I first saw him on film last year, I thought he could make an argument as the best prospect in the Land of Lincoln.

Kielp has tremendous range, excellent speed and he's as good as they come playing in space. He makes tackles from sideline to sideline and he's a big time hitter.

Credit Michigan State and ace recruiter Sal Sunseri for being the first school to offer Kielp a scholarship. Sunseri got on Kielp from day one and never left his side.

Look for the Spartans to play Kielp as a linebacker and (DPR) designated pass rusher. Kielp is explosive off the edge and gets to the quarterback in a hurry.

This is a fantastic get for Michigan State. Coach Sunseri has done an excellent job in Illinois this season.

One thing that Sunseri did that other former Spartan assistants didn't do in the past was cultivate relationships with the high school coaches in Illinois.

Sunseri is well liked and respected by the high school coaches and he's great with the players and their families. The mother of Michigan bound Mike Kolodziej was raving about their home visit with Sunseri as has other parents.

Look for coach (Sal) to get a commitment soon from Derell Jenkins. The Bolingbrook, Illinois athlete has been nicknamed "Double D" by Sunseri because he averages double digits (25ppg) on the basketball team as well.

I feel Jenkins, if coached could be a great quarterback at the next level but his best position may be safety. Derell is such a skilled athlete he may be able to come in and help immediately.

Congratulations to Michigan State on Steve Kielp. He's made an excellent recruiting class even stronger.
