The Green squad, led by Paul Davis defeated the White squad with freshman point guard Drew Neitzel 72-68. Neitzel was 2-of-2 from the line and 3-of-3 from the field for 8 points.

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The #10 ranked Michigan State basketball team held its annual Green-White scrimmage on Saturday afternoon after Saturday's 32-19 football loss to Ohie State.

The Green squad, led by 15 points from Paul Davis and Alan Anderson, won 72-68.

"I think we were able to get a lot out of today's game," said head coach Tom Izzo. "We showed that we have some guys who really can get out and run. Now, we just need to work on our transition defense.

Fans got their first look at freshman point guard Drew Neitzel. Neitzel was 3-of-3 from the field, including 2-of-2 from 3-point range, scoring eight points.

"Today was a good experience, especially for me and the other freshmen," said Neitzel. "The upperclassmen have the game experience, but we are looking for any experience we can get. It was nice to play in a game before the exhibition games start, and it will be nice to play in the exhibitions before the regular season. I think today will help me out a lot."

Michigan State opens its exhibition season on Wednesday against Grand Valley State at 7 p.m. at the Breslin Center.
