Benjamin says he is focusing on getting fully qualified and passing the SAT test. When asked if he had an official visit to MSU set up Benjamin replied "No I haven't, not yet, anyway."
He said the coaching staff is encouraging him to make that his first priority. "They're telling me to take the test and then we can get everything set up from there," he stated.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound safety prospect said he had put all official visits on hold so he could concentrate on his studies and indicated that while Reggie Mitchell, MSU's former recruiting coordinator had taken the lead in his recruitment, his departure would not keep him from accepting a scholarship offer from the Spartans if one were forthcoming.
Benjamin, a University of Wisconsin camper, indicated that Wisconsin, Northern Illnois, Minnesota and "a couple of schools in MAC" have continued to pursue him along with Michigan State. He does not have a leader at this point but is also interested in the University of Illinois
Does he have a preference when it comes to his position on the field, either offense or defense? "Not really, I just love playing football," said the soft spoken senior. "I just love the game."
Perhaps MSU will find Benjamin a good fit for their spread offense and he'll love playing football for the Spartans.
