Herzog Picks State

FLINT - Powers Catholic 7-foot center Tom Herzog chose Michigan State over Notre Dame and Michigan today at a 10:30am press conference at Powers high school in Flint, MI.

Herzog has made his decision and told Scout.com's recruiting expert Dave Telep "I don't really know if there was one really big factor. There were a lot of things I felt good about."

Herzog earlier told GoSpartans.net's Mike Fowler that he "really enjoyed" his visit to East Lansing, when he visted along at the same time as Ohio forward Raymar Morgan, but declined to commit because he wanted to visit Notre Dame first.

For Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo, who already has gotten verbal commitments from Raymar Morgan and Minnesota swing man Isaiah Dahlman, Herzog is a big-time piece of a recruiting class that could stamp the Spartans as a Final Four contender for years to come.

With guards Maurice Joseph and Travis Walton joining the MSU squad this fall, the arrival of Morgan, Dahlman and perhaps Herzog gives MSU a talented laden roster for Izzo to work with.
