"He's a strong safety and wide reciever," Lafayette (Ky.) High School representative Ashley Davies said. "He had an offical visit with Michigan State for the Northwestern game and apparently really enjoyed himself."
Shaw is a 6-foot-3, 180 pound running back/defensive back for Lafayette. He's a relative unknown in the Bluegrass, but has terrific speed and agility for the next level. He's projected as a safety or a wide reciever.
The Lafayette website confirmed the commitment this afternoon.
"He's around 6-foot-2 and a half, 195 pounds," Davies said. "He's run a 4.49, forty-yard dash, but generally is around a 4.52. He's a freak athlete that has a 34 inch verticle."
In 7 games this season, Shaw has rushed 21 times for 224 yards, an average of 10.7 yards a touch with 3 touchdowns on the ground. He's also caught 19 balls for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Generals. He recently had a 97 yard interception for a touchdown return, starring on the defensive side of the ball.
In addition to Michigan State, Kentucky showed great interest in Shaw, expressing a scholarship offer was around the corner.
