Summers Ready To Join Spartans?

With the recent committments of point guard Kalin Lucas, and shooting guard Chris Allen, Durrell Summers, the highly-touted shooting guard from Redford, Michigan is said to be close to committing to the Spartans as well.

OKEMOS, recruiting has learned that the Lansing State Journal is reporting that Detroit Redford star Durrell Summers will give a verbal committment to Tom Izzo and the Spartans.

Summers, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, and a 5-star rated player from, is a slasher-shooter type that can score in a hurry.

Allen and Summers met while visiting for the MSU-Michigan football game October 1st. Allen has said that he made up his mind then, and that he and Summers have talked almost every day since then. Kalin Lucas has also pushed both into becoming Spartans, and that help is apparently about to reap benefits for the Spartans.

GSN will have a complete story on Summers in the near future as his decision is finalized.

As far as Allen is concerned, he told and Dave Telep his reasons for committing to the Spartans:

"The Big Ten is one of best conferences there is. The ACC is good, and the SEC too but they're sleeping on the Big Ten. I just want to play hard. Whatever coach asks me to do, I'm going to do it for him. That's the respect I have for Coach Izzo and Michigan State."
