Smith talked about the incoming players and what each of them bring to the table:
Jason Diehl: "Diehl is here right now, he's a big strong kid. He's a guy who goes in the weight room right now and doesn't look lost by any means."
Connor Dixon: "He's a little bit skinny right now but he'll get a lot bigger and a lot stronger. He's very athletic." He and David Williams will be on the same all-star team playing against the kids from Ohio in the Big 33 game."
Charlie Gantt: "Tight end, can get down field. He's going to get nothing but bigger. He's one of these guys that love to be in the weight room."
Eric Gordon: "Eric is here on campus right now. Eric's grandfather played here. He was raised as a Spartan, a good football player."
Marcus Hyde: "He'll start (his career) here as a defensive back."
Jonathan Misch: "[A] good football player, makes plays, probably a linebacker."
Ogedmi Nwagbuo: "Getting bigger and stronger, [he] can move, [probably will play] inside, can run. He's number #90 (on the film), he'll be inside and he's getting stronger by the day."
Patrick Rigan: "He's got a big frame, we expect him to be a defensive end, he might be a tight end. For a big kid, he can run pretty good."
Josh Rouse: "You can see he's got some height, he'll fill out a lot, he'll probably be a good ten to twenty pounds heavier when the fall rolls around." (When shown on film behind center, Smith quickly added) He's not going to play quarterback."
John Stipek: "We hope that he can get big enough to become an inside guy, but he's got a great motor, he's going all the time. We finally got a player out of 'Cookie's' high school."
Devin Thomas: "A big strong kid, this guys going to be a player for us, he's going to help us a bunch right away." (When film showed Thomas tripping, Smith quipped,) "A little clumsy."
David Williams: "An inside guy for us, a return guy, he had too many runs like this - on kickoff returns and punt returns too count. He's the one that'll be playing with Connor in the all-star game."
