Spartan Women Beat Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Michigan State advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a first round victory over Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

ROSEMONT,ILL-Liz Shimek scored 17 of her 27 points in the second half to help the Spartan women advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, with a 65-46 victory over Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Shimek also hit the offensive glass with seven offensive rebounds to help MSU.

The 4th-seeded Spartans, now 23-9 overall, led by only a point at halftime over 13th-seeded Wisconsin-Milwaukee, which ended it's season at 22-9.

MSU used a early 14-2 run in second half to break the game open for MSU.

Lindsay Bowen scored all twelve of her points in the second half to help the Spartan cause.

The Spartans will now play the winner of Kentucky-Chattanooga in the second round.
