Simkovich has been on the Spartans radar screen for a long time. He was a MSU camper last year and participated in the Spartans junior day festivities.
Simkovich's high school coach Pat Murray told the Tribune-Review that his star felt comfortable with the MSU coaching staff and that played a large part in his commitment.
"He's been [to Michigan State] more than a few times," Murray said. "He's developed a rapport with the staff since he's been there."
"I committed to Michigan State because it was a good fit. I have a great relationship with coach Stoutland and coach Driesbach. They have been in contact with me for over a year and I just feel really comfortable with Michigan State," said Simkovich.
"They will look out for me and do what they can to get me to the next level which is where I want to be. They will put me at either offensive guard or tackle," Simkovich said to Cory James of Scout.com
The big offensive lineman will go into his senior season this fall as the captain of his team and hopes to improve upon Latrobe's 5-5 finish a season ago.
