Scout catches up with MSU's #1 target

Muskegon star has scouts drooling over his talents at both corner and wide reciever. Johnson is MSU highest rated uncommitted prospect.

One of the nation's top prospects is Ron Johnson from Muskegon (Mi.).

Johnson, 6-0 and 190 pounds, is a two-way standout being recruiting as a wide receiver, cornerback and kick returner. "I can do all three," said Johnson. "Cornerback is my best position. I have a good combination of size and speed. To me though it really doesn't matter. I will work hard at any position and I just want to help my team."

This off-season Johnson has worked out off the field despite playing basketball and running track. "I have been getting up at 4a.m. and lifting weights. At first I was lifting three times a day now I am done to two. The hard work has paid off."

According to Johnson he has narrowed down his favorites to ten schools – USC, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Purdue, Tennessee and UCLA.

"They have all offered and so far I have already visited Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Purdue and Notre Dame. I will take official visits to the other schools and I have no leader at this point.

"At this point I am looking at three things – academics, team chemistry and the coach's chemistry with the players and playing time and what position they want me to play and how I fit in."

Johnson recorded eight interceptions last season.
