Windy City OL has MSU in top five

"My favorites right now are Boston College, Iowa State, Akron, Northern Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, and Kentucky," Ray said.

Chicago, Illinois (Mount Carmel) offensive lineman Arthur Ray was surprised this afternoon in receiving his fourth scholarship offer.

"Out of the blue, I received an offer from Boston College today," Ray told Scout.com.

"Coach (Don) Horton came by the school, and left the offer with my coach. I talked to him after school, and he told me he liked what he saw out of me at the Ohio State NIKE Combine. He asked if I was excited about the ACC, and I told him I was. They are in need of some big guards, and they've produced a lot of very good offensive lineman. He said he'd give me the call that he's allowed next week to talk more."

Ray had received offers earlier this spring from Nothern Illinois, Iowa State, and Akron.

"My favorites right now are Boston College, Iowa State, Akron, Northern Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, and Kentucky," Ray said.

"Coach (Chuck) Smith from Kentucky told me that their offensive line coach loved my film, but they are going to have to wait until their head coach is off the road in two weeks so he can watch the film before they can make an offer."

"Both Michigan State and Indiana want me to attend their camps this summer, but they seem close to offering. Purdue also called me and wants me to attend their camp. Right now, I'm thinking I'll probably just take some unofficial visits rather than go to any camps."

"Coach (Todd) Fitch from Iowa State called me on the first day coaches could even call just to let me know they were real interested in me. He said their offensive line coach loved my first step at your (Scout.com) combine, and it is hard finding guys that have as quick of a first step as I have. I'm planning to take a visit out there sometime in June."

Ray ranks among the best offensive line prospects in Illinois in the Class of 2007.
