OKEMOS, MI - Michigan State continues to mine the talent rich state of Florida for recruiting talent and is now in a pitched battle for defensive lineman Uriah Grant.

The Spartans are attempting to fend off a furious effort by the University of South Carolina for Grant's service.

Grant emerged out of nowhere at the South Florida MSL combine and the Everglades HS star has turned heads all over the south. He now is drawing interest from Pitt, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Iowa and LSU in addition to the aforementioned two teams.

What is attracting schools to the senior is his combination of size and explosive speed. Grant has an 80-yard interception return to his credit.

According to Scout.com's Alex Hesquijarosa, Grant will attend the Down-N-Dirty combine on June 23-26 and MSU representatives are expected to attend. He also is expected to camp at Lousiana State University.
