Walton headed to Australia

Each team selected a player to be eligible for the team and Izzo tabbed Walton to take the trip. In a Michigan State press release, Walton indicated he was eager to see another part of the world and the experience that comes with it.

The Big Ten Foreign Tour team will depart tomorrow for the land "Down Under", Australia that is, and MSU point guard Travis Walton will be among those traveling with the squad led by Michigan head coach Tommy Amaker.

"We felt it would be good for Travis because he'll have to take a big step for us next year.It'll be good for him. Tommy will be a good guy to play for, and having four or five practices and games will help him a lot," said Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo

"I played some basketball in Italy when I was in high school, and I'm excited to be able to travel again. I just want to continue working on what I've been doing all summer, improving my shooting and becoming more of a team leader."

The team will be in Australia for a ten-day tournament against the country's national touring team and several other club teams.
